
Carl has been a scenic and costume designer for professional and educational theatre companies in the Seattle area for many years, designing and constructing productions for companies such as Seattle Symphony, The Bathhouse Theater, The Gilbert and Sullivan Society, Seattle Musical Theatre, Shoreline Community College, and Bellevue College, among others
Carl is an accomplished miniaturist, making and selling his work for the past 35 years both nationally and internationally, as well as teaching classes on miniature-making. His specialty is working with polymer clay to create food, candy, and holiday items. Many of his pieces incorporate his training as a theater designer, using scale, color, and texture to enhance his pieces.
Carl is the Costume Shop Supervisor at Cornish and teaches classes on costume construction.
He is an avid collector of miniatures, vintage textiles, and antique holiday décor.
