“An Exploration of Shadows”, humans have always been fascinated with shadows.  The ability to project and morph strange characters enacting stories upon a wall or screen has drawn artists to this artistic medium since prehistoric times.  In this program, learn about ancient traditions of India and China, the anarchist clown of Greece and Turkey, the stylish exoticism in 19th century Paris and contemporary artists experimenting in the dramatic use of shadow and light.  See examples from around the world, gain an understanding for the technical skills to create and manipulate, and build your own shadow puppet.
