Theater Alumni
2008 Theater graduates Andrea Dennison-Laufer, Diana Huey, Jordan LaRoya, Tina Myers, and James Rudy were all chosen to participate in the very selective Milwaukee Repertory Theater Internship Program for the 2008-09 season.
Amelia Zirin-Brown (TH ‘99)
In early 2008, Amelia recorded “This Little Light of Mine” with Grammy-winning cellist Yo-Yo Ma for his newest CD, Songs of Joy & Peace: Yo-Yo Ma and Friends. Also joining Ma on the album are Diana Krall, James Taylor, Renee Fleming, Alison Kraus, and Dave Brubeck.
Joshua Conkel (TH ‘03)
Joshua's newest play,
The Chalk Boy, received rave reviews at the Washington, DC, Fringe Festival, and opens in New York (featuring Kate Huisentruit, TH '01) and LA simultaneously on September 4th, 2008. Joshua also recently starred in a sitcom pilot entitled
Bad Apple.
Rose Cano (TH ‘83)
In 1994, Rose founded North-South ConeXions, a cultural exchange project between artists of The Americas in Lima, Peru; the organization has since brought over 50 artists from South America and The Caribbean to the Seattle area. She founded The AFrican ConeXion Project in 2001 with the mission of uniting Latino and African American communities through theater from Afro-Latino countries.
Ryan Mitchell (TH ‘04) and Mandie O’Connell (TH ‘04)
Ryan and Mandie won a 2008 Genius Award from
The Stranger for their experimental theater company, Implied Violence. In addition, the company was awarded a residency in Fall 2008 at the Watermill Center in New York, established by groundbreaking theater visionary Robert Wilson.
